Kilkenny Thukolo Gospel Choir
THUKOLO pronounced TU-KO-LO THUKOLO meaning FREEDOM in the Sotho language, spoken across South Africa, is appropriately named, as the origins of gospel music emerged from the struggle for freedom and the expression of faith depicted by the slave trade of previous centuries. Thukolo Gospel Choir was formed in 2003. At present we have over 30 members, all with different vocal ranges. We are a friendly choir, we love to sing uplifting vibrant songs in the spirit of enjoyment and fun. Throughout the year we donate funds we have raised through our events, to nominated charities. We meet to practice every Tuesday night in St. Johns Parish Day Centre. at 8pm. We sing in St. Johns Church at the 7.30pm mass usually on the first Sunday of every month. Our musical director is Aine Prendergast. Aine was a founder member of Thukolo Gospel Choir in 2003 |
